When I was pregnant with my first baby, I spent countless hours creating my baby registry. I researched products in depth before adding them to my list because I wanted to be 100% sure that it was the perfect product for our family.
When my baby shower came around, I got mounds of newborn clothing, but none of the products or baby gear I needed. Luckily, some of my amazing family members were able to give us some of their old baby items we needed. One of these items was a high chair. It worked pretty well, but the one thing about this high chair that bothered me was how large it seemed to be.
When we moved states for my husband’s grad program, I decided to leave our high chair behind because I knew if I took it with us it would take up too much space. After having our second baby, I needed to find a replacement for the high chair we had left behind. I found two options:
a). The standard high chair: These often claim to fold “compactly” so that you can push them out of the way. In my experience, however, the chairs that claim to fold to a compact size still stand tall and take up a large amount of space. Many of these cannot be tucked away into a small space for easy storage.
b). Compact booster seat chairs: These attach to regular kitchen chairs which was intriguing to me, but the trays on most of these chairs were so small that you couldn’t even fit a standard baby plate on it comfortably.
I quickly became frustrated with my options until I came across the Baby Jogger chair. In my regular fashion, I researched this high chair for hours. I watched videos and product reviews on YouTube, read blog articles with pros and cons lists, and even measured out in my home how big it would be when folded and unfolded. I decided to take a chance, because it was the only high chair of its kind: a full-sized high chair that actually does what it claims by folding down to a compact size.
When I received my high chair, I was surprised by how much I loved it. I quickly found that it was better than I had expected. The seat itself is made from a soft and comfortable material, yet it wipes off quickly and easily without much effort. With two quick folds, the chair folds to an extremely compact size. Another perk: it is self-standing when folded, so it can easily be tucked into a small corner or pantry (perfect for our small apartment). And with a family vacation coming up, it was going to be ideal for fitting in the trunk of our car with the rest of our luggage.
